In April 2001, Auldenfire Sweden established the Enterprise Systems Architecture
Laboratory (ESAL) as a framework for developing and evaluating tools and
techniques in the areas of MDA™ and Integration Services.
The remit of the laboratory is as follows:
Provide a sandbox area for Case and other tool
evaluations
The sandbox area is a set of servers and client workstations where
tools can be installed and tested without affecting the rest of the
Group's systems. Auldenfire's customers and project staff typically
use the sandbox to evaluate tools and set up configurations for development
work.
Enable the development and test of customised
solutions to prototype/proof of concept level
The laboratory provides a complete design and development environment
for architecture tools and configurations.
The environment consists of CASE workstations running Rational Rose
Enterprise Edition, developer workstations for J2EE, C++, Oracle, MS
SQL, and DB2 application builds, and a central server-based configuration
management repository. At present, the following solutions are under
development:
- MDA Repository and maintenance tools
- Code Generation Engine
- Distributed EAI Repository
- Distributed EAI Directory
Provide a framework for architectural and enterprise
system design training
The laboratory has a number of training environments configured to
support Auldenfire's architecture courses.
The ESA Laboratory is located in Stockholm, Sweden.
